Confirmation at Kent Island United Methodist Church is offered to 7th grade and above. It is presented in workshops that begin with a fellowship lunch and prayer on the 3rd Sunday of the month. (Our Sunday school curriculum supports Confirmation in introducing and practicing healthy, holy habits but does not lead the youth through Confirmation.) From there we move into our lessons which are designed to prepare the youth to make a wise and informed decision about their faith and how to live it out. The youth will have many opportunities to experience and explore their own faith as well as that of their faith community. In addition to the workshops, we also have field trips during the Journey so we may explore and celebrate with churches of other faiths our differences and unity in how we live out our faith. Our Mentoring Circles meet for a time of fun and sharing every month. Near the end of our Confirmation Journey, we have a retreat, picnic, and the Rite of Passage Ceremony at Camp Pecometh. Then for those who discern with God that they would like to be confirmed, we invite them to do so at the Confirmation Ceremony during church with a reception following. Confirmation is just the beginning of the Journey.
